International accreditation

Founded in 1988, the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP) is a global business education accrediting body and the first organization to offer accreditation to all levels of collegiate business educational degree programs from associate to doctoral.

ACBSP ignites a standard of excellence with an accreditation process based on the Baldrige Education Criteria for Performance Excellence. By evaluating aspects of leadership, strategic planning, relationships with stakeholders, quality of academic programs, faculty credentials, and educational support, ACBSP assesses whether or not business programs offer a rigorous educational experience and commitment to continuous quality improvement.

ACBSP has a global network divided geographically into 11 regions. Staff from the world headquarters of ACBSP, along with leadership from the regions, arrange and present workshops and seminars on issues relevant to the field of business education at a series of regional meetings. These meetings are open to all members.

The Associate Degree and Baccalaureate/Graduate Degree Boards of Commissioners responsible for making accreditation decisions, reflect ACBSP's global membership and include representatives from among the 11 regions.

ACBSP was also the first accrediting body to be recognized by the U.S. Department of Education and later, the first to be recognized by CHEA, the Council for Higher Education Accreditation.

In 2010, to better define the mission of the Association as well as to reflect a growing global presence, the decision was made to change the name of ACBSP to Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs. Today, ACBSP has a network of more than 1260 member campuses and more than 10,000 individual members, making it one of the leading accreditation bodies for business schools and programs around the world.
