Students pursuing a minor in Tourism under the Foreign Language Translation Program at Mandakh University successfully completed practical training in historical, cultural, and nature-based tourism at Aglag Buteel Monastery, located in Bornuur Sum, Tuv Province. Conducted as part of their academic curriculum, the field training provided students with an opportunity to reinforce their theoretical knowledge through hands-on experience in a real-world setting.
The training aimed to equip students with practical skills in examining tourism resources, products, and services on-site; exploring opportunities to develop historical and cultural heritage sites and natural attractions into tourism products; designing tour itineraries; and providing information to tourists.
Through this practical training, students had the opportunity to:
· Conduct on-site assessments of historical and cultural tourism resources;
· Identify natural tourism resources and assess their potential for tourism development;
· Recognize the tourism value of cultural heritage and historical landmarks;
· Learn methodologies for developing tour routes and itineraries;
· Enhance their tour guiding and interpretation skills;
· Apply their communication and translation skills in practice to convey accurate and accessible historical and cultural information to international tourists;
· Strengthen their teamwork, tour organization, and tourist service skills.
The combination of the Foreign Language Translation Program and a minor in Tourism enables students to integrate their foreign language proficiency and translation expertise with professional competencies in the tourism industry. This interdisciplinary approach broadens their future career opportunities in tourism organizations, hotels, travel agencies, museums, cultural institutions, and the fields of tour guiding and heritage interpretation.
Through this field training, students successfully applied the knowledge acquired in the classroom to real-world situations and further developed the knowledge and practical skills necessary to effectively present and promote Mongolia's historical, cultural, and natural heritage to domestic and international visitors, while contributing to the development of sustainable tourism.
